CAIRO (IQNA) – Egypt’s Awqaf ministry plans an initiative in mosques for correcting errors made by people when reciting the Quran.

Dubbed “Correct Your Recitation”, it will be held in a number of major mosques in different cities, el-Balad News reported.

Ten mosques will host the implementation of the program, with the first one being Sayyidah Zaynab Mosque in Cairo.

It includes recitation of one-fourth of a Hizb (part of the Quran) by a senior qari or the imam of the mosque with the listeners repeating the verses after him.

The ministry said the plan helps those who like to attend Quran recitation events to rectify their recitation.

It added that given the priority of this initiative, any Quran classes planned in the mosques will be postponed to a later time.
